$1100 for the glass, the homeowner is going to install it and do trim work with his sons.

Custom glass, wood trim, about 7 feet tall by 3.5 feet wide. Failed pane, no warranty. Homeowner will be replacing soon (along with about ten other failed panes)

There are about a million different signs that your window is failed. This blueish haze along the edges is one of them.

I’m afraid to ask I have sevearl of these that at 30 years old and I know they aren’t sealed because water gets between the panes when I wash them on the outside.

That should cover the window, but I think you’re forgetting labor costs

That’s my guess, 3000ish. But it’s a third floor window so it may end up being more

Hopefully not that much. Maybe with the other (normal sized) windows

As long as water isn’t leaking INTO the house it’s mostly aesthetic. Losing pennies on your heating bill but likely nothing major

Anodized aluminum is the answer.

If they are just dual pains without frames, they aren’t too bad. Like a 3x5 would be $150 or so. Something that size with a curve at the top will be in the 400-500 range. Labor to replace them will be about $100 per window.

Double pane, apparently metal framed originally with wood trim added over. Strange. $100 per? Yikes, I normally see higher labor costs even for the standard bedroom windows in an easy to access area. Maybe some major geographic price differences?

I was thinking about 2-3 hours per window. Figure $40/hr for a carpenter. I depends on the design of the window though. Some are easy you just pop the interior trim and molding off and the whole thing comes out. If they have to do the encasement it’s a whole different deal, more like 4-6 hrs per window, plus new trim and molding, dry wall repair etc....

I’m surprised they cost $1100 for the glass, must be the curve at the top.

We only spec aluminum curtain wall/storefront at work, I’ve had to replace so many screw ups where VE-ing caused them to go with vinyl.
